Race the Triple Peaks of Porirua
The Porirua Grand Traverse takes participants of all age, ability and aspiration on a scenic and challenging tour through iconic landscapes from high country farmland to native bush and rugged coastlines.
It starts with a mountain bike over the historic Battle Hill and Belmont Park, with views from the Orongorongos and Wellington Harbour to the Kaikouras and Kapiti Island. The run, with terrain ranging from bush and farmland to beaches and wild rocky coastlines, is 97 percent off-road and totally unique among multisport events. “It was the first time I ever stopped in a race to admire the view,” said one participant. The kayak section takes in Porirua Harbour and Puatahanui Inlet, with stunning coastal views and great spectator vantages.
There's something for everyone at the Porirua Grand Traverse, with individual and team categories, a duathlon option for non-kayakers, and a dedicated children's event. The Canopy Connection Challenge offers kids a unque introduction to multisport that starts with a waka paddle. Multisport legends such as Richard and Elina Ussher Marcel Hagener, Fleur Pawsey, Jill Westenra and a host of others have all enjoyed the experience... To find out why make sure you’re at the start line!
